Each one of your patients using Grin will need to submit scans as part of their treatment plan. The scans and videos they take using the Grin Scope are essential parts of effective treatment. These scans allow you an intraoral view of the teeth so you can monitor your patients’ progress. You can also set a scan schedule to keep them on track.
Receiving and Reviewing Scans
When your patient begins their Grin treatment journey, they will send you scans via the Grin app. You will receive a notification of each new scan which you will then be able to assess and view. You’ll be able to send them back a scan review - a video recording that allows you to walk the patient through their scans as well as annotate the images to highlight areas of interest. This feature allows for more nuanced and personal engagement than messaging alone. Please see the article How to Send a Scan Review for details and instructions.
Your patient will receive a notification via email and app notifications (if enabled) that you’ve reviewed one of their scans.
Setting Scan Frequency
You can set the scan frequency for each patient depending on their individual treatment plan. The default frequencies are 7, 14, 21, or 28 days with the option of setting a custom frequency. For more information, instructions, and FAQ, check the Scan Frequency article.
Scan Reminders
Your patients will receive reminders when it’s time for them to scan. Patients have the ability to customize their notifications in the app.
Grin supports patient notifications in 3 formats: Email, text and mobile push notifications.
If the patient has notifications enabled, they’ll get emails and notifications the day their scan is due, a day after, and three days after the scan is overdue. It’s important to ensure patients have notifications enabled on the app so that they don’t miss scans.
For more information on how your patients enable and receive notifications, please see the Reminders and Notifications article.
Double Scan for Aligner Patients
All patients with their treatment type set to aligners will be automatically guided to take two scans - one without their aligners and one with the aligners in. Each scan will indicate whether it’s been taken with or without an aligner - this provides a more holistic picture of your patients’ progress.
