A scan review is a helpful tool that both doctors and practice staff can use to communicate and engage with patients about their treatment. Whether giving feedback on compliance, discussing outcomes, or reviewing treatment options, the scan review feature allows for more nuanced and personal engagement than messaging alone.
Recording and Sending a Scan Review
Navigate to your Doctor Portal and locate your patient via the search bar under the patient tab.
When you click on your selected patient, their scans will appear in the center timeline panel next to your messaging history.
Underneath the patient’s scan, there will be a yellow button that says send a review. Click the button to load the scan review screen.
You can either click on the camera icon to open your camera for video capture or you can just click on the start recording button at the bottom of the scan viewer.
Your browser will prompt you to select the area you want to record. For best results, choose the tab option. Note: Please use Chrome for recording scan reviews. Safari is not supported at this time.
Record your review and send it to your patient. You will see it appear in the messaging panel. Your patient will receive a notification to log in and view it.
Sending Multiple Scan Reviews
If a doctor or another staff member would like to record a scan review (for example, a Treatment Coordinator discussing the logistics of a treatment plan), they can record another scan review in addition to any already recorded by clicking the Send a Review button again.
Troubleshooting Recording and Sending Scan Reviews
The scan review feature utilizes the screen share and screen recording features of your browser as well as the camera. If you encounter an error message when trying to record a scan review, you may need to adjust your permissions settings in your browser.
For Chrome:
- Open settings by choosing the three dots icon to the right of the browser address bar.
- Click on Security and Privacy on the menu at the left of the screen.
- Choose Site Settings from the options list.
- Under Permissions, click on the Camera option.
- Verify that you have the Grin URL (www.get-grin.com) in the list of allowed sites. If it is in the list of sites blocked or not allowed to use your camera, you can move it to your allowed list by clicking the arrow next to the URL and using the dropdown box to choose allow.
